Myrtle Beach Gardens

There are a number of wonderful botanical gardens in the Myrtle Beach area. The best time of the year to visit is in the spring when the flowers and bushes first burst into bloom, but the gardens are lovely all summer long.

Recommendation (Travel Tip)
The best known gardens in the Myrtle Beach/Grand Strand area is Brookgreen Gardens, which is known for its landscaped sculpture garden that offers tours, wildlife trails, cultural exhibits, and educational programs.

Brookgreen Gardens was founded as a non-profit garden museum, to preserve the native flora and fauna and display objects of art within that natural setting in 1931.

Today, it is a National Historic Landmark with the most significant collection of figurative sculpture, in an outdoor setting, by American artists in the world. It has the only zoo accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums on the coast of the Carolinas.

We've been to Brookgreen Gardens ourselves, and to get around the entire property in a day would be a pretty good power walk. Take a small cooler and your camera, tour the grounds at a leisurely pace, and stop to rest and take photographs at the many benches dotted about.
