Myrtle Beach Zoology |
While the primary reason you go to Myrtle Beach is to enjoy the beach and all the activities that revolve around the beach, sometime you want something different to do. There are a number of zoological attractions located here which include Ripley’s Aquarium, T.I.G.E.R.S., Alligator Adventure, and Waccatee Zoological Farm. T.I.G.E.R.S. (which stands for The Institute of Greatly Endangered and Rare Species) is a wildlife education organization, dedicated to promoting global conservation with informative, educational and entertaining interactive programs. It is the most exciting animal adventure ever. We can provide you with live educational shows ranging from Zoological Presentations to Broadway Productions. We will show our audience how the wild animals of the world and man can coexist. We will give you the opportunity to learn everything you may have ever wanted to know about a particular species through our very special kind of wildlife presentation. You will meet the world's largest variety of trained big cats along with Those Amazing Animal Actors from your favorite movies and television commercials. With T.I.G.E.R.S you will observe and learn about many rare and unique animals, in a new and completely different way. Alligator Adventure will bring you face to face with nature’s fiercest and most beautiful animals. It is located adjacent to Barefoot Landing in North Myrtle Beach, one of South Carolina’s most outstanding tourist attractions. Alligator Adventure is one of the largest facilities for reptile life in the world. Alligator Adventure is the proud home to over 800 alligators that range in size from eight-inch infants to 15-foot adults that weigh 500 to 1,000 pounds. While skilled lecturers explain the life history of these ancient creatures, the talks are highlighted with staff members feeding the large reptiles by hand.
This zoo receives no state or government funding, just lots of
T.L.C. Located where the Waccamaw River, Intercoastal Waterway and
Socastee
Creek join, Waccatee Zoo is a natural wildlife sanctuary and breeding
ground for many species of migratory birds. |
