During what the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce advertises as peak Myrtle Beach family vacation season, last night Myrtle Beach tourist, Bubba Hinson,  live streamed a 12:25 a.m. shoot out in downtown Myrtle Beach.  The video linked here and the one captured on our feed is violent and may be too sensitive for younger viewers.

Eight people in total were shot.  Seven were wounded.  A security officer was shot,  but not injured.  His body avoided injury and life was saved by his bullet proof vest.  Bubba Hinson lives in the S.C. upstate area.

According to Lt. Joey Crosby, officers were called to the area of 5th Ave N and Ocean Blvd. around 12:25 am, June 17th because of a large crowd. Once they arrived, a fight broke out and one person pulled out a gun and shot the other. Crosby says an armed security officer shot the suspect before the suspect fired off multiple rounds and fled the scene by carjacking a vehicle.

Lt. Crosby of MBPD says several people were taken to the hospital.  None were mortally wounded – All survived.

The streets of Ocean Boulevard in downtown Myrtle Beach have become increasingly violent and  dangerous with Myrtle Beach City Council and Mayor Rhodes appearing to have few answers for a wave of ongoing criminal shootings in 2017.

While the family friendly beach towns of North Myrtle Beach, Garden City, Surfside, Litchfield and Pawley’s Island rate as the most safe beaches in America,  Myrtle Beach is continually rated the 17th most dangerous city of all cities in America.
